Department Introduction

Establishment
Aerospace Engineering department started its activities within the Faculty of Aerospace Sciences on 01.09.2016 and was connected to Tarsus University which was established by the law published in the Official Gazette dated 18.05.2018 and numbered 30425. The education language of the department is English with 30%.

In this context; of Aerodynamics, Propulsion Systems, Construction and Materials, Flight Mechanics and Control at least 17 courses are taught in English.

Acceptance and Registration Conditions
Having a high school diploma, T.C. citizen candidates are placed in the university by taking into account their success scores and post-exam preference rankings in the central exams (TYT: Basic Proficiency Test and AYT: Field Proficiency Test) conducted by the Assessment Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Foreign students who are high school graduates are admitted to the university according to the results of the Foreign Student Exam (YÖS).
 
The education language of the university is Turkish. International students who do not have a sufficient level of Turkish language enroll in the compulsory Turkish preparatory program. The compulsory Turkish preparatory program, transfers from other universities to the university and transfers between departments is carried out within the framework of the principles and related regulations determined by the Senate.

Qualification Requirements and Rules
The student who fulfilled the provisions of "Tarsus University Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree Education and Examination Regulations" and who successfully completed all courses in the program with 240 ECTS credits is entitled to receive a diploma. 2nd and 3rd year summer internships are compulsory, 30 working days each. The internship commission and workplace training commissions created in the department examine students' internship / workplace training report files. There is a requirement to be successful in internship education for graduation.

Program Profile
Aerospace Engineering is an interdisciplinary science which is designed within the framework of factors; atmospheric pressure, load, temperature, etc having effects on aircraft, helicopter, spacecraft, missile, etc during flight. The aim of the Aerospace Engineering undergraduate program is to train engineers who have gained competence in the basic disciplines of aviation engineering; aerodynamics, structure and materials, propulsion systems, flight mechanics and control at the level of expertise, have the ability to apply the methods needed in the design of air and space systems in real systems, has reached the competence to use computer languages and professional engineering software required in the aviation industry, and.can produce solutions with interdisciplinary information use, data analysis and analytical approaches in engineering applications. Aerospace Engineering has become one of the most important professions in the aviation industry, which has developed rapidly in recent years in order to increase domestic production and reduce dependency on foreign countries.

Graduates can work in defense industry organizations as Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ - TAI), TUSAŞ Engine Industries Inc. (TEI), ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, HAVELSAN, Baykar Machine, Vestel Defense Industry Inc., Kale Aviation, Nurol BAE Systems Air Systems Inc., FNSS Defense Systems Co. Inc., STM Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc. etc., and in civil airline companies like Turkish Airlines and Turkish Airlines Technic Inc., as a specialist engineer, manager, designer; besides, find employment opportunities in researcher and faculty positions in research and development centers like universities, TÜBİTAK-SAGE, TÜBİTAK-İLTAREN, TÜBİTAK-SPACE, NASA, ESA, etc. Graduates of the department can also find opportunities to work in the leader international research and development and manufacturing centers of the automotive industry.

Transition to Higher Degree Programs
Candidates who successfully complete their undergraduate education can study in postgraduate programs provided that they get valid grades from ALES exam, have sufficient knowledge of English language and meet the conditions specified in the regulations of the relevant institute.
 
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
In this program, exams and evaluations are made in accordance with the provisions of “Tarsus University Associate Degree and Bachelor's Degree Education and Examination Regulation”. Students meeting the conditions related to attendance and applications, who score 50.00 or higher in the final or make-up exam and also have 50.00 or higher for the semester grade totaly, are evaluated as successful.
 
Graduation Conditions
In order for students to graduate from the program, they must have completed all of their courses, must have collected at least 240 ECTS credits from the courses in the program, and must have a passing grade from compulsory summer internships.
